Bricklaying Course

We can accommodate single students or block bookings from schools, APs, CICs, and Trusts. The maximum number of pupils per group is 6.

Learning aims:

Building a simple wall
  • Building simple wall structures
  • Laying bricks to line and level following the given dimensions
  • Lay bricks to mortar beds, maintaining vertical plumb and maintaining horizontal level
  • Pointing horizontal and vertical joints using a variety of tooling
  • Keep the finished wall clean and free of mortar staining
  • Awareness of hazards and precautions that need to be taken before starting bricklaying
  • Reading drawings to understand what has to be built
  • Using materials, calculations of quantities to meet the drawn information and specification
Drawing a plan of a room
  • Interpreting and communicating information from the room plan
  • Identifying features, position of walls, fittings, doors and windows
  • Understand symbols used in construction for brickwork, blockwork, timber and concrete
  • Understand symbols for sanitary fittings such as bath, wash hand basin, WC, pipes and valves
  • Understand symbols for doors and windows
